Itinerary for the Mull and Argyll Holiday:

This is a two centre holiday featuring Mull and Argyll.

On arrival in Glasgow, you will be met by a member of the team and travel north through the straths and glens of Argyll to the bustling harbour town of Oban. Here we will take the short ferry journey to the Isle of Mull. Once checked in and settled you will be given a short presentation on your chosen birding break before enjoying your evening meal in the hotel.

Days 1 to 3 - Mull

The holiday will get off to an exciting start.
For most the star species of Mull is the White-tailed Eagle and we will spend the morning visiting the best known haunts of this remarkable bird.
For those seeing Sea Eagles for the first time, it is a truly remarkable experience.

We'll savour the delights of Mull at a leisurely pace and will enjoy views of Golden Eagles, Hooded Crow, Raven, Twite and a range of winter wildlife that may include Red Deer and Otter.

We have made a special effort to set time aside hopefully to obtain views of otters along the shores of the many coastal lochs. We will also be visiting the coast and harbours in search of Glaucous and Iceland Gulls, Great Northern , Black throated and Red- throated Divers and we will undoubtedly experience the west coast of Scotland at its most scenic.

Wild Caledonia is delighted to say that we fully support the multi award winning Eagle Watch Initiative which is managed by Wildlife Crime Officer, Constable Findlay Christine of Strathclyde Police and Dave Sexton, the RSPB Mull officer. We will meet Findlay and Dave and hear of their work protecting these magnificent birds. During our time on Mull, we will be treated to a slide presentation from Findlay and Dave about their work on Mull.

With considerable good humour, we are assured of an excellent evening enjoying their stories and adventures when protecting the magnificent White tailed Eagle . This will be a fitting conclusion to what will be a most memorable visit to Mull.

Days 4 and 5 - Argyll

Arriving back on the mainland, we will go into deepest Argyll in search of Greenland White-fronted Geese , Barnacle Geese, Greylag Geese, Pink footed Geese and Hen Harrier . The glens hold Golden Eagle , Peregrine, Red Grouse and Red Squirrel .
In the evening we will arrive at our hotel in Helensburgh on the north shore of the River Clyde and enjoy our evening meal reflecting on the experiences and species so far.

On the last day we will spend time exploring the glens of Loch Lomondside for local specialities like Siskin, Redpoll, Black Grouse and wintering raptors.

We will also visit the Clyde Estuary and pick up a range of waders like Redshank, Oystercatcher, Curlew and a selection of winter wildfowl like Scaup and Red breasted Merganser before finishing our holiday at sunset overlooking Loch Lomond and the National park.
